drinking fountain for catsRecently I took at look at the Cat Mate Drinking fountain but the Drinkwell Platinum water fountain has also caught my eye. The Platinum model has a few advantages over the standard Drinkwell model such as being able to hold more water and having a fully submerged motor meaning it’s very quiet.  This deluxe model uses the same filters as the other drinking fountains made by Drinkwell so they should be easy to get hold of.  It’s these filters that keep the water clean and cold.

Reviewers said this drinking fountain is easy to clean and the carbon filters last quite a while.  Another reviewers states that they only have to fill it once a week but they only have one cat so obviously if you had more it might need filling more frequency.  I did see a review where they complained that the motor failed after a week but a replacement was sent without any issues so at least we know there’s good customer service.

Most reviewers have made a comment that the motor isn’t totally silent but makes a gentle hum, so I would suggest turning it off during the night so the noise of the motor and the water running doesn’t disturb your sleep if you’re a light sleeper.

I would definitely consider buying a drinking fountain for your cat as this encourages them to drink more water and if they’re anything like my Poppy it will stop them drinking straight from the kitten tap.
