The blog post below contains my own thoughts regarding to the topic of suspended cat beds and believe it or not the ambiguity of the term got me thinking.

What exactly is a suspended cat bed?

When I came across the term suspended cat beds it made me think of 2 different types of beds. The first one that sprung to mind was the radiator cat bed as this is a cat bed suspended (as the name suggests) from the radiator. The other type was a hammock type bed which is attached to a wall.  Take a look at the pictures below if you’re unsure what I mean.

I had the realisation that since the term meant different things to me, it will also mean different things to other people. I tried to think of other terms that people would use to search for the same type of cat bed such as hammock bed.  Were these people looking for a true hammock type bed with a frame and free swing hammock like we’d see on a tropical island (but cat size ;) ) or more of a radiator cat bed??

So while I wait for your answer I thought I would answer some of my other questions that popped into my brain while I was considering the above.

Which Suspended Cat Bed?

From my view point the big decider is the DIY aspect. If you’re not happy drilling into your walls then the radiator cat bed is going to be the better option. You don’t even need to go rooting out your tool box, no screwdrivers, wrenches or glue is required.   Actually when you think about it, there are quite a lot of positives to radiator beds so I’m going to list them below

  • They’re movable – you can move from room to rooms or  even houses without an issue.
  • Radiator cat beds consist of a metal frame and a cover so they’re easy to put together and dismantal for cleaning.
  • Cleaning is easy – wipe the frame, throw the cover in the washer
  • They give your cat extra warmth when the radiators on

So what type of Suspended cat beds were you looking for?
