Clumping or Non Clumping Cat Litter

You have a choice when it comes to cat litter between clumping or non clumping, all types of cat litter will fall under one of these headings.

Clumping cat litter has the advantage of clumping together so wet cat litter can easily be removed from the litter tray and clean clumping cat litter can just be poured in.  This helps minimise the cat litter used.  Also this type of cat litter tends to control the odour well. However because of the clumping ability of this type of cat litter it can cause health problems if your cat ingests it as it will clump in the cats stomach.

Non clumping cat litter will need to be changed more frequently as it won’t be possible to remove the used cat litter.  However it poses non of the health risks associated with clumping cat litter.

Something else to think about is  how eco friendly you would like to be, some cat litters are more considerate to the environment than others.  Think about the material that your cat litter is created from such as recycled or renewable sources.
